12 August 2016 – Celebrating Together “International Youth Day” with a Flashmob at Mother Teresa Square

On the occasion of ” International Day of Youth” on August 12th, “YMCA Tirana” center, with the support UNFPA-Albania, in partnership with the Network “Voice of Youth” and in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth, Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Republic of Kosovo, ALFNA- Anna Lindh Foundation Network Albania and Liburnetik Organisation, will host an event in the form of “Flash Mob” in order to make the public sensible on issues of youth. This is an open invitation to anyone who has a message to give or to share, so that the voice of young people to be stronger and clearer. The event will occur on August 12th, 2016, 11:00 AM.

All young people who want to be involved in the performance of the Flash-Mob, are invited to join us on Thursday, August 11th, at 18:00, to make rehearsals at Tirana Youth Centre – Rr. e Kavajës, close to Raiffeisen Bank.

This year, UNFPA, in the “International Youth Day” will hold a series of activities highlighting the importance of the youth in the welfare of their families, communities and the nation as a whole. Young people, unlike the general belief, are not the problem, on the contrary, they are the solution. Essential to this is the implementation and respect of the rights of youth to participate in political, economic and social life in the communities where they live and have the opportunity to take free decisions being well-informed related to their body, sexuality and reproduction free of discrimination, violence or conflicts; this by promoting the importance of their access to education, health services, including sexual and reproductive health, and family planning. Special attention during the campaign is given to teenage girls. A 10 years old girl today, will be an adult – a woman and possibly a mother – in 2030. We have the obligation to enable this transition so the future to be better for her, her community and the whole world – it can certainly be achieved through supporting their rights, providing opportunities and keeping promises.
